Oh My Gosh Chakras!

I know I am doing this Yoga teacher training, and it has literally been like drinking out of a fire hydrant with the amount of information we have online, in our workbooks and on CDs, but now I have all this stuff in the Chakra course and it is AMAZING!  All of it is, I just need 2 weeks to do nothing but study Yoga and Chakras and then years more!
The Chakra stuff just ties everything together though!  Everything I have learned about healing through Hypnosis, EFT, Acupressure, oils, chrystals, and even medical practices.  People don't even realize that they are dealing with chakras most of the time!
For instance, I teach Hypnobabies natural birth classes and we teach women how to create their own anesthesia for birth.  We teach them to create an orange anesthesia that flows around their belly and to their arms, around their back and to the middle of their thighs.
Orange is the color of the second Chakra, the Chakra of creativity, sexuality, pleasure and where the baby is created!  How appropriate to use orange as the color for the Hypno-anesthesia!
In my chiropractor's office, she had color therapy glasses she uses to help people - with perfect descriptions of each Chakra, just not mentioning the word "Chakra".  Perhaps as to not turn people off of the idea before they experience the incredible healing power of color and balancing and opening the Chakras.
What is mind blowing about Syl's Advanced Chakra Therapy course though is how she goes into so much depth of how the Chakras interact, how each Chakra interacts with each of the other ones, how the male and female energies work together to make one whole.  For example, the root of the Root chakra is the crown and our female root is God/enlightenment.  All creations begin female - for example the fetus becomes male at 8 weeks.  Mind blowing.  In any case, the color therapy videos are incredible as well as all the material and Chakra cards.
I wish I could write it all down and share it all, but that would be silly as that has been done already in the course!  If you are into Chakras, look into this course!  It's amazing!

108 Sun Salutations

Happy Summer Solstice!
I just finished my 108 sun salutations an hour ago - yes, past 10 at night!  My Mom and kids all got involved for parts of it and between dinner, a bonfire and getting kids to bed, it unfortunately was not as constant as I would have liked.  When I did get 20 or 30 in a row going, I could feel the power of the series!  I was afraid I would lose track, but it was like I was hypnotized and so relaxed that I knew my subconscious would keep track for me.
So, I have done this a few times and never really understood what a solstice is and why we do 108.
So here are a few fun facts I learned.
My Dad told me that the solstice is only a moment in time where the sun is closest to the earth.  Since it's the closest to the earth, we can mark that as the longest day of the year.  Here in Canada, the sun is just going down at 10pm tonight!
My daughter asked "why do we do 108 sun salutations Mom?" and I had a pretty weak answer, so I looked it up and found my favorite answer is that the distance to the sun is 108 times that of the earth.  As we do the sun salutation, we can imagine circling the earth - Heaven, earth, bridge, child, Mountain, horizon, earth, heaven - Heart.  I imagined these things as I went through some.  Some musings that came to me were: I am in constant movement, circling my own worlds over and over in my days.  Am I present enough to recognize my breath and body enough to reach The Son - my ultimate goal?
Some other reasons for 108 from Huffington Post were that there are 108 names for Buddha, there are 108 beads on a Catholic rosary, 108 beads on a Tibetan Mala, 108 is 6 times 18 which is the Jewish number of good luck, 12 times the number 9 which is the number of vinyasa in a Sun salutation and many other reasons on good 'ol google!
So there you go.  I short intro to the 108 Sun Salutations!  Try it next solstice!  it is an awesome tradition, and fun to think that millions around the world are doing it!

My Journey to Healing through Yoga

Well, here I am.  I started a regular practice of Yoga while 3 years ago.
I was in a very difficult relationship with much secrecy and addiction that I didn't know about at the time.  I felt a deep sense of solace and healing through my practice and would walk out on a high, watching people in the other work out classes, pounding their bodies with the intense music and weights and wished they could all have an opportunity to experience what I just did.
In one week, I found out some very disturbing facts, flew down to Texas, packed what I could of my belongings into my car, met with a lawyer and drove from there, to Canada and back to Utah.
When I arrived in Utah, determined to have a fresh start, I signed up for Yoga teacher training as soon as I possibly could.  Not so I could make a living teaching, and really with no idea what I would do with it, but just because I felt drawn to do it.  I know it was and continues to be a huge part of my healing process.  The amazing thing is that I was guided to Bohdi Yoga studio to do my teacher training where I have learned and continue to learn mind blowing information from Syl Carson, founder of Bohdi Yoga and the true healing art of Yoga.
So, through my personal stories, research and experiences on these blog posts, I hope you can begin your own journey to healing as you witness part of mine.
